The La Ronge Skating Club is excited for the upcoming 2023-24 skating season! The Board has worked extensively with our returning coaches and Skate Canada Saskatchewan to establish our 2023-2024 coaching team, to register participants, and to plan for the season. Priorities for the Board this season include ensuring skaters are trained by certified coaches, supporting and developing program assistants and in-training Canskate coaches, ensuring skaters have access to appropriate ice times to meet their training goals, managing registration fees to ensure skating is affordable for all, and supporting increased and more transparent communication. Skate Canada Saskatchewan has been instrumental in ensuring the Club understands their responsibilities to provide skaters with:

• professional coaches certified through the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP).
• programs which are held in a fun, safe and friendly environment.
• instruction that follows the National Safe Sport Program.
• an environment that supports equity, diversity, and inclusion.
• training which supports the Skate Canada Long-Term Athlete Development model which allows coach training and certification to be specific to the development of an athlete as they progress through the sport.

The Board anticipates a highly successful season for all skaters and coaches and is working closely with Skate Canada Saskatchewan on skater, coach and program assistant training and development. Parents and skaters can find information about the upcoming season, programs, coaches, our skating alumni assistants, and much more on the Club’s Uplifter site. The Board encourages skaters and parents to contact any Board member or coach with questions they may have about the upcoming season.
